Maturing in hearts and mindsThe Rhetoric School years are an incredible season of growth, as students mature both in heart and mind. They are stepping into young adulthood, and we consider it a privilege to walk alongside them during this important time. We are dedicated to fostering a classroom environment where students see themselves, and one another, as God sees them—image-bearers capable of fulfilling His plans for their lives.
As a Classical school, these years will focus on refining critical thinking skills, asking insightful questions, and cultivating wise reasoning. When asked, the Rhetoric School teachers highlighted these defining qualities of their classrooms: love, joy, laughter, community, fun, respect, exploration, collaboration, discussion, cooperation, and appreciation. |

Learning Foundations
As a Classical and Christian school, we are committed to the idea that all knowledge is unified. Everything is indeed connected, because God created all of it for His glory! That said, it is helpful to think about our academics in their specific subject areas. Below, by subject, you will find a brief description of the content and skills addressed in the Rhetoric years.
Bible
Our students will regularly approach the Bible prayerfully, devotionally, and academically. Scripture memorization happens in four large passages each year. Broad theological concepts are addressed through a weekly catechism. Rhetoric students also help to plan chapel each month, which is attended by the rest of the school. ELA

Parent's Role
In Rhetoric School, the parent's role shifts from co-teacher, as in Grammar School, to becoming less hands-on. At this stage, students are developing disciplined study habits—not through parental enforcement, but through positive reinforcement and an increasing awareness of personal responsibility. Parents still review lesson plans, help with time management, provide support when needed, and check assignments for concept comprehension and completion. For the class to succeed, teachers rely on parents to ensure students stay on track with assignments and to communicate any challenges that may arise.
