Preschool

Ages 4-5

Growing in curiosity
and wonder

Preschool is a wonderful time of growth, discovery, and joy in a child’s life.

At Arrow, our hope is that each student will grow in their curiosity and wonder, their self-control in a classroom setting, and in their friendships - all in a Christ-centered and nurturing environment.

APA Preschool aims to develop young men and women, rooted in Jesus, in  embracing curiosity, wonder, and delight as they discover God’s world.

Learning Foundations

As a Classical and Christian school, we are committed to the idea that all knowledge is unified. Everything is indeed connected, because God created all of it for His glory! That said, it is helpful to think about our academics in their specific subject areas. Below, by subject, you will find a brief description of the content and skills addressed in preschool.

Bible

Our students regularly approach the Bible prayerfully and devotionally. Bible stories are told, discussed, and expressed through art and music. Broad theological concepts are addressed through a weekly catechism
ELA
Our preschoolers experience many beautiful and engaging stories and poems in class during read-aloud time. They are regularly and gently introduced to the alphabet - through letter formation and the phonograms (letter sounds), which will greatly prepare them for reading and writing in the years to come.

Art

Individual creativity as well as art appreciation will be cultivated through daily artistic projects and weekly exposure to famous works of art.
Math

At the preschool level, our students playfully develop number sense progressing from manipulatives to abstract representations.
Nature Study

Our preschoolers are invited to explore God’s creation together and share their findings! They will begin to develop their God-given capacities of observation, discussion, and appreciation.

Parent's Role

For preschool, APA has no expectation or requirement of parents on home-days. This differs from our other programs. That said, parents are invited to introduce their children to learning in the home, and provided with resources to do so. If they so choose, parents and children may begin to develop a new aspect of their relationship. The most a home-day should last is 30-60 minutes at this age, usually split up over different activities, and very flexible to fit into each family’s rhythms.
